Being able to tell – or read your opponent – is one of the most important skill a advanced poker player have to learn if he or she would like to win in Poker. It is the magical something that separates the people who just manage to break even from people who seem to always win.

Most players would give away the strength of their hands just from their visual cues that are expressed by their body language. By deciphering his mannerism, you can tell whether is he bluffing or not.
In the past, people do not understand mannerism well. They do not know how someone may bluff in Texas Holdem. However, pro players started to find signs from their opponents to determine whether are they bluffing or do they really have a big hand.
Some ambitious people have tried to write down every single mannerism into a list, so that they can refer from it another time. Some even sit down for days, trying to come up with the perfect ‘mannerism list’
Your list would be pretty incomplete because they would be millions of tells and you can’t possibly write every single one down. You have to learn the purpose behind every action before you can determine whether the person is lying or does he have a really big hand.
Instead, you’ll be able to fit their mannerisms into universal categories of tells. You’ll often know exactly what they hold and, better still, you’ll know why they’re acting as they are. You’ll get deep inside their minds. And sometimes you’ll be positive what cards an opponent holds – just as if he’d turned his hand face up on the table!
Your poker game and your profits will soar if you are able to master the art of telling. In my opinion, a person who masters the skill will be able to at least make 3 times his money back.
